Today, it's my turn on the Blog Tour for Annette Hannah's delightful new novel, Lottie's School of Dance. Here is my review:
It’s not often that I read a book that makes me want to put on my dancing shoes, but Lottie’s School of Dance by Annette Hannah did just that!
As soon as I read the opening scene of this romantic novel – no spoilers, but the book begins with the heroine, Lottie, dancing towards the altar – I was hooked. The action soon moves from Canada to the English village of Bramblewood – the location of Annette Hannah’s previous novels – where, with the help of a handsome stranger, dancer Lottie rescues both a donkey and an old lady called Doris from injury. Lottie has always dreamed of running her own dance school, and in return for her company and helping out around the farm, Doris offers Lottie her disused barn in which to run dance classes. And then there are the auditions for a reality dance show, where Lottie and the handsome stranger are destined to meet again . . .
The author obviously knows her ballroom dancing, and I found the scenes where Lottie and her charismatic dance partner are rehearsing and performing their dances wonderfully described. But you don’t have to be a dance fan to enjoy this lovely book, for it also has a delightfully tantalising romance that will have every reader rooting for Lottie to move forward from the event in her past that caused her to leave Canada, and allow herself to fall in love. It is a stand-alone novel, but cameo appearances by characters from Annette Hannah’s previous novels are a welcome addition to the story, as are the senior citizens who take part in Lottie’s dance class and hope to find their own happy-ever-afters.
A warm-hearted, feel-good contemporary romance, that shows the importance of family and friendship, and depicts a real sense of community, as well as having an engaging heroine and gorgeous hero, Lottie’s School of Dance is highly recommended.
